NEW BLOOD #27: First of all, the cover is a little bit cheesy. "Featuring Dart!" is something I'd expect to see on the cover of a Marvel superhero comic. I don't like it on ELFQUEST.

The scene on page 9, panels 4 and 5 was extremely touching. Door walks in and at his feet are these sleeping children, who he could kill with a thought. And he takes off his own robe and covers up one of them. So maybe the rock-shaper doesn't have a heart of stone.

Door is doing to Windkin what the Black Snake did to him, and many others in Blue Mountain. He's manipulating and prying, trying to get Windkin to join him. Do I see a continuing chain, here?

That's Cam Triompe who is Scorch's hero. How did he learn elf-speak? He's also trading with the Djun? Bad idea, too much political unrest in that area. But now I'm confused, with all of these different places. Could we have a map of all of the known World of Two Moons, listing the original holt, Sorrow's End, the Djun's territory, and Door's kingdom? I, and probably others as well, would find it greatly useful.

Hope you find the centerfold to this very issue illuminating! And the reason for the trademark blurb on the cover is simple: Comic book character names are valuable and there are people who are either ignorant enough or unscrupulous enough to use names that are already taken. Sometimes the legitimate owner of a trademark name has to take extraordinary steps to alert the audience as to who's who and what's what in this business. - RP

It's nice to see Windkin free. At least his body. I have wondered how the 'Black Snake' would effect him in life. I noticed the change many issues ago, when Dart awoke to find a darker Windkin. Maybe I'm seeing things but he has a bit of the "dark side" in him. Maybe Door is going to bring that out.

In "DoorWar", Barry didn't use any black ink. He did on the cover but inside, zip. Very nice; I've always enjoyed that. And since I have yet to say so, I'm really happy to see him with Warp. Please keep up the great work.

One more thing. Hmmm... Humans trading with a Djun? NEW BLOOD is one year behind? Correct? Well, catch them up, I like the two separate books but I need another happy tearjerker. Okay, okay, I'll wait.

But please... Give Chot a swift kick from me or put him on his own quest... "Chot and the Search for Circle K."

First, great artwork Barry and Colin. It just keeps getting better and better.

#1 Chot - as much as I like him-he can disgust me with his less than perfect table manners... always eating and drooling... ugh! You'd think something was wrong with him?

#2 Suntop is growing up-no denying that. He seems to always be champing at the bit of Shenshen's restraint.

#3 Shenshen still reminds me of a most useless female. I think of her as the kind of female who hides in a shadow while her family is being attacked. Something has got to be done about her character. She is such a nuisance. I realize my impression is probably wrong, but I find her so irritating. She lived with the Wolfriders for close to five hundred years, some of their bravery had to rub off. Despite her willingness to go on this journey to defend Suntop I still can't see what good she does. She is just in the way, like a pretty and useless ornament that the others have to defend. It is no wonder Suntop snaps at her, if she were my aunt I would probably snap at her too!

#4 Door, did I see right? Just when I think you can't surprise me again-you surprise me. For a moment there, while Door stood over that sleeping child, I thought (by his expression) that he was going to fly into a rage - instead he covers the body with a blanket, or was it his cape? Anyway just when I think Door is lost for good, he goes and does something which makes one wonder if indeed he is all bad? Go figure?

#5 Windkin has me really worried. He's listening to Door. His attitude and reactions to the others are all influenced by Door's beliefs. This stuff about purity - I hate it. It is like caring that my people are all white, or my religion is the only one that matters-when none of that matters at all. All that ever mattered is that we are all one race, one people. Even the elves of ELFQUEST have the same racial problems we do. How sad. They, the supposedly noble race, sinking just as low as the lowest forms of humanity.

#6 I hope that Windkin remembers his own roots. Sure he is a glider through his father, true his wolf blood was stolen from him by Winnowill. But one thing no one could take from him is his mother... Dewshine. All he needs to think of is his mother, and he would realize how she would feel if she learned he reviled his true people. Those who loved him enough to travel hundreds of miles to rescue him.

#7 The father's father of all trees-hmmm-okay, it's a big tree, an ancient as time itself... so what? Unless someone in that party suddenly turns into a treeshaper no one is going to be living in that tree for some time to come.

#8 So finally we get to meet THE REBELS' Cam Triompe, Scorch's hero, a merchant, pirate, what? He seems a tad addle-brained, been out in the Vastdeep too long, it's scrambled his brains. Still he looks like an interesting character and I guess we will all learn why Scorch admires the memory of this man.

#9 Windkin, pay attention. While Door is calling your friends savages, his slave-warriors are preparing to kill your friends. Who is the more savage? The humans that follow the bidding, or the one who gives the order? Even if Door doesn't want to actually bloody his own hand with the blood of his own kind, a foul deed ordered by his command is the same as doing the deed himself. Door would be just as guilty as the humans if those humans succeed in hurting or killing any of your friends.

Door is determined to outshine his "teacher," Winnowill - so who knows to what lengths he'll go? Keep those cards, letters and metamorphic rocks coming, and see you in 45! - RP
