This is sort of an online collection of real-life EQ "sightings"
Have you seen anything like these..? Let me know! Contributions of text and/or photos are welcome!
Here's what's up here so far:
If you're familiar with microcomputers of the mid-70's, you might be
aware of the 1802-based computers built by various small companies that
were often referred to as "ELF" computers.
So what? Well, here's an ELF computer
with a particularly interesting name...
So, you thought elves on our world only made cookies and children's
toys, eh?
Here's an Elf in southern Minnesota that
makes various chemicals for industrial and agricultural use.
Elf Atochem also has a chain of gas stations, as evidenced by this photo
taken in the French colony of Martinique. Sort of an "elf Service
Island," I guess. :-) Click on the logo image above to see the full
picture. Incidently, stickers with the "elf" logo are a very
common sight on automobiles there as well.
There aren't any elves at the Quest Bar and Grill in Chicago, but
it is the home to wolves, at least. Click on the thumbnail
image to see the full picture.
Strongbow might be the famous taciturn archer with his own appreciation
society, but on our world, Strongbow has
played a lot of different roles.
No, it doesn't come with any shade, but here's some refreshing sweet
water for you. I'm not so sure what the name should imply to EQ
readers, though. Perhaps it refers to the cool, crisp water as enjoyed by
the Wolfriders as they held their council in Book 3. On the other hand,
perhaps we humans should be wary of potential... tampering... of this
water by Winnowill. Hmm. Well, I drank it, and nothing happened to
me. Or, at least I don't think so, at any rate. According
to the label, it would seem that Blue Mountain is located in Grey
County, Ontario. Anyway, click on the thumbnail to see the complete image.
Elf Herring! Packed in sour cream! Sounds like a Wendy and Richard
product, doesn't it? No, wait-- it's not red. Oh well...
Here's another product of Blue Mountain, but this one was found in
a grocery store newspaper ad from
the Netherlands. (I can't read Dutch, but I think they're canned peaches)
Speaking of Blue Mountain, you don't need to be an elf-- or even a
member of the Hoan G'Tay Sho-- if you'd like to visit. Just take
the exit off the Pennsylvania Turnpike, just as I did! [Coming soon:
some actual photos of the Blue Mountain area itself...]
[TO BE ADDED LATER]"Forevergreen" burned down on the World of Two Moons, but on this world there's actually quite a lot of them...
SPECIAL FEATURE:
You might be surprised at just how many other businesses there
are in the USA that happen
to, by coincidence, have names which might strike a familiar chord to Elfquest
readers. Check out this list of some I've
compiled from a national business phone directory.
